A new report has confirmed that Creed sequel is in work and has Sylvester Stallone fully on board the project. Furthermore, The Rocky actor is also in the process of writing the script as well.
According to Deadline, Stallone’s top priority lies in MGM’s Creed 2. Due to which the actor won’t have “any involvement in Tiger Sharoff’s Rambo.” A spokesperson representing Stallone has clarified that it “is not happening, under any circumstances.”
Earlier, Stallone also put out a major plot hint online. The actor revealed details which suggested that Adonis (played by Michael B. Jordan) might go up against Drago’s (played by Dolph Lundgren) son in Creed 2.
Drago is the Russian heavyweight boxer who played as the antagonist in 1985’s Rocky IV. The character is also responsible for killing Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers) in the classic film. MGM is hoping to start production sometime around next year.
It is likely that Lundgren could also reprise his role Creed 2. Currently, the actor is filming his part for Warner Bros. DC film ‘Aquaman’. The movie has been scheduled to hit theaters on December 21st, 2018.
MGM’s Creed released in 2015 made a good run at domestic and international Box Office. The film earned over $173 million worldwide with its production budget estimated at $35 million (via: Box Office Mojo).
The original film received massive support from the masses and was also appreciated by the critics. The upcoming sequel is still yet to announce its release date. But fans can rest assure and expect an announcement soon as Stallone progresses with the script.
